Kinesiology "A night with Dr. Krebs"

Last night I went with my wife Heidi to see one of her Superstars. He is a man called Dr. Charles Krebs. He is a significant man in the world of Kinesiology because he healed himself from quadriplegia after a diving accident that gave him the bends. He was totally incapacitated and written off as being a lifetime wheelchair case. He was and still is a mainstream scientist who has an open mind. He had a little knowledge of Chinese "Chi". (This can be described as an energetic flow of "life force" that animates the body to make us into the human beings we are.) Dr Krebs also had a good knowledge of physiology so in his mind he first started to imagine this "Chi" force interacting with his supposed dead muscles. He found he started to have real sensation and feeling coming back and after months of this and also physical exercise he gradually started to walk again. Two and half years after his accident, and after trying a number of natural therapies, he met a Kinesiologist /Acupuncturist in New Zealand who worked with him and within one session was able to walk with his legs under his body! It has been a very long and very brave recovery and looking at him last night you can see that he still has his troubles, but they are completely submerged in his passion to research and bring this remarkable knowledge into the Western mind. I can only imagine the trials and tribulations he has had to endure over the past 30 years as he has worked to design studies and experiments to help overcome Western scepticism and ignorance of these combined Eastern and Western ideas and philosophy. It seems he has done a very good job though. For those still totally sceptical and unable to embrace this energetic medicine at any level, I would say that they are just ignorant.
TESTING & FEEDBACK
Kinesiology works when a practitioner tests muscles to receive feedback from the patient's body. This can end up quite complicated, as the feedback can result in an examination of nested pathways that may bring you to an issue that on the surface may not seem to be related. A correction is then applied by using different and various methods to stimulate particular Chi intersecting points to allow the Chi energy to flow properly again. The body in effect heals itself when the interrupted flow of energy returns to normal and the body returns to so-called Homeostasis.
SUBCONCIOUSS PROCESS
Apparently some commentators and patients can misperceive what is felt and seen in the muscle feedback process. Dr. Krebs spent time last night to explain why these comments made around the Muscle Testing technique are a misunderstanding. He explained that notwithstanding the extent we might think we are able to interact and control the strength we put into our muscles, the fact is that it is a subconscious operation. We have a perception of the effort we are putting into our muscles, but the actual process is subconscious. We can think up, or be told to do activities, but muscle responses are subconscious; they follow on subconsciously from the minds instruction. He has done scientific experimentation to prove this fact. So he explains that a muscle can either be facilitated, that is, it has its energetic pathways open, or it is locked, and that is, its energetic pathway is closed or blocked. There can be gradations of open and closed and that becomes part of the Kinesiologists skill to read.
CIRCUITS
A Kinesiologist will set up what are called circuits and be able to "really" test them to work out their efficacy. This is done by measuring resistance or lack of resistance to the pressure applied. It is here that the client's perception of the resistance they feel they are personally bringing may be astray. The trained Kinesiologist will however, be able to read accurately any changes and work out the best way and method to open up the energetic pathways again.
As already mentioned they can then use a range of methods to unblock or stimulate the gateways into receiving normal energy flow, and thus the body will heal the pain, trouble or dis-ease that is presented to the Kinesiologist. A pulsing can be felt as the pathway opens up.
GREATER GOOD
Dr. Krebs feels strongly that the Kinesiologists have the right intention in working with their clients. That is, when dealing with the issues presented it is wise to be focussed on "the greater good"! Often the Kinesilogist will be able to intuit the cause of a problem but because the problem may involve a negative mental state, they may not be able to raise it consciously until the processing has been completed. This can sometimes take time. I assume "the greater good" would also focus on higher spiritual goals and there is also the fact that a practitioner may be required to "hold the clients circuit" in their own body while a parallel test may be being carried out. To do this I imagine would require a level of morality and ethics for the client to get the best healing without being entangled with too much of the therapists own emotional noise. The less the therapist is entangled the better the "greater good". This is a testament to the intimacy that will be forged between the practitioner and the client. It also demonstrates the way kinesiology works across both the mental and physical boundaries. As Dr Krebs says, "of course the way you think and feel is going to affect the physical body! Daa!!!!!."
ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE
I was very interested in the way Dr. Krebs explained the use of two very ancient but obviously related systems that explain the energy flow within our bodies. The first is the Chinese system of five elements, which is the foundation of the Acupuncture Meridian System, and the second is the Chakra System which roughly corresponds to our endocrine and nervous system and it contains seven distinct energetic resonances.
ACUPUNCTURE MERIDIANS & THE FIVE ELEMENTS
Taking the Chinese system first, the elements are fire, earth, water, wood and metal. These descriptions are symbolic and work as metaphors in what is a very complicated but quite understandable series of connections in our bodies and minds. Dr. Krebs sees the connections like pipes, so that if everything is open and clear we are in homeostasis.
He made what I think is a very astute comment here, when he likened the process to Chaos theory in Western science. Chaos theory postulates that when a system is in equilibrium it is essentially dead. I think he was saying that if our bodies were continually in homeostasis we would also be essentially finished. I find this idea encouraging. It points to illness and trouble as not being the enemy, but part of life itself. True peace and his view of homeostasis would be related meaning the cycles of birth and death would finish.
Another very interesting aspect of the five element system is the way it apparently resonated into normal family life under the Confucian system. The system has places for parents and grandparents and ancestors etc.
SEVEN ELEMENTS
Recently the Fire Element has been divided into two parts, and another added to make a total of Seven Elements. This was done to expand what was a combined process and to better imagine how the Element system connects to the Universe using its discreet descriptive pathways, all with their own connecting "tubes". The two new fire elements are Sovereign Fire, Ministerial Fire and the added element is Air. Each of the seven elements has a Ying and Yang side making 14 facets. There are connecting Meridian Lines that can be identified and used to good effect in this structure.
The Chinese Element structure and its relationship to the Chakra system can easily be compared.
CHAKRA SYSTEM
The Chakra system sees similar energy as Chi but it is called Prana. The "Chakra System" has Pranic energy (life force) connecting everything up through so called Meridians that intersect the Chakra's. The Chakra's are imagined as spinning wheels located at the major intersecting points. Some sensitive people can actually see these points and see the auric field that emanates from the Chakras. There are seven intersecting points ranging from the base of the spine or Base Chakra then continuing up the spine to the Sacral Chakra then the Solar Plexus Chakra, Heart Chakra, Throat Chakra, Pineal or Brow Chakra and Crown Chakra at the top of the head. Each Chakra has a back and front or Yin and Yang, so once again we get 14 facets.
Dr Krebs also showed us another diagram of the "Nadi System" which also uses pranic lines of life force to connect up body and mind. It looks similar to the Chakra System. All are used to good effect in Kinesiology.
